Barbara Jean (Young) Kelsey

Barbara Jean (Young) Kelsey
December 10, 1951 – October 16, 2025
Cancer, it is challenging and terrifying. Barb faced her second battle, like her first, with courage, strength and the ultimate sense of humor. Complications from treatment ended Barb’s fight and she passed away at St. Patrick’s Hospital in the early morning hours of October 16th surrounded by the love of family and friendship together with the kind, caring and compassionate staff.
Barb was born in Sacramento, California on December 10, 1951 to Janet Richards and Evert Young and joined her older sister Cheryl. From an early age Barb was an animal lover. There was always a dog at her side and a horse that needed to be ridden. Barb enjoyed Montana’s beauty and grandeur on the back of a horse.
Professionally, Barb chose nursing. For over 30 years Barb worked at the Montana State Hospital with a focus on the challenging Forensic unit. She was a compassionate, caring and dedicated nurse, with the perfect gently sarcastic sense of humor that put even the most disturbed patients at ease in her presence. Her daily work and kindness truly made a difference to staff and patients alike. Barb completed her nursing career at the V.A. Clinic in Anaconda where she was proud to serve those that have served us.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents, son Heath Corrigan, niece Jamie Myott and cousin Linda Snyder.
Barb is survived by her son Kip Corrigan, sister Cheryl (Earl) Myott, special cousins Carolyn Holland, Rita Cooper, Judy Young, Russell Norcutt and special friend Connie Ternes Daniels.
A very special thank you to all of Barb’s caregivers at Saint Patrick’s Hospital, Cancer and Infusion Center, Community Hospital of Anaconda ER, ADLC Ambulance Service, Home Health and others.
In keeping with Barb’s wishes there will be no services. Please give someone a smile or pet an animal, or give a donation to your favorite animal shelter or cause in memory of Barb.
Farewell Dear Mother…
Somewhere in my heart beneath all my grief and pain, is a smile I still wear at the sound of your dear name. The precious word is “Mother” you were my world you see, but now my heart is breaking cause she’s no longer here with me. God chose her for his Angel to watch me from above, to guide me and know that I’m still loved. The day she had to leave me when her life on earth was through. God had better plans for her, for this, I surely know. When I think of her kind heart and all those loving years, my memories surround me and I can’t hold back the tears. She truly was my best friend and my mother someone I could confide in. She always had a tender touch and a warm and gentle smile. I want to thank you Mother for teaching me so well and though the time has come that I must bid you this farewell. I’ll remember all you taught me and make you proud you’ll see. Thank you, my Dear Mother, for all the love you showed me. Although you’ve left this earth and now you’ve taken flight, I know that you are here with me each morning, noon, and night. I love you, Mom! Rest in peace,
Love Your Son Kip Edward Corrigan.
