About Us

The Anaconda Leader, located in the historic Pay Office Hall at 121 Main St. in Anaconda, is the newspaper of record in Anaconda-Deer Lodge County and has operated in the heart of downtown Anaconda for more than half a century.

Founded by the late Dean Neitz in 1970, the Leader is published on Wednesdays and Fridays each week on our own in-house printing press, and our full-service print shop also prints newspapers from the neighboring communities of Philipsburg and Deer Lodge.

Although Dean passed away in 2019, his son Van carries on the family tradition as owner/publisher of the Leader, bringing hyperlocal news coverage of the Anaconda area to our readers each and every week.
