Common Under Construction

The lights on the Kennedy Common Christmas tree are on for testing while a backhoe hauls a section of pipe and an excavator digs out a trench for it at the common, where Anaconda-Deer Lodge County is laying the groundwork for the installation of a chiller system to keep ice from melting off the skating rink during winter months. Once the feeder pipe for the chiller system is installed beneath the common, the system's manufacturer will be able to place the mats and the feeder pipe for that. ADLC Parks and Recreation Director Joe Ungaretti said the county will be meeting with the manufacturer early next week to finalize the timeline on the project, which was funded by a tourism grant from the State of Montana.
