David Edward Dyas March 18, 1932 – August 18, 2024
David was born in Anaconda, Montana, on March 18, 1932. He was the second son of two children born to George Dewey and Mary Farnworth Dyas. He was raised in Anaconda and graduated from Anaconda High School. David joined the United States Navy in 1951 and served two years spending some time in Hawaii and Japan.
David met Ona in high school. They started dating after David returned from the Navy. They were married in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church on April 2, 1955 in Anaconda. They had three children: George Howard Dyas, David Lewis Dyas and Jean Carol Dyas. Last April David and Ona celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary.
David worked for the Anaconda Copper Mining Company until the family moved to San Diego where he found work at Convair as a milling machinist, a trade he learned while he was in the Navy. In 1962 he began an exciting career with San Diego Gas & Electric Company and retired after 30 years of service. During this time David was a member of the Optimist Club for many years.
On January 22, 1967 David was ordained as a Ruling Elder at East San Diego Presbyterian Church.
It has been noted that David was a deeply caring and thoughtful person. While he was retired, he spent his free time lending his skills to Palisades Presbyterian Church. Those skills included installing, upholstery, carpentry, plumbing and landscaping work among other countless tasks to ensure smooth operations at the Church, and to help the congregation feel comfortable. David was a member of Palisades Presbyterian Church for 56 years.
