Dennis John Boyer

Dennis passed calmly at home with his two remaining siblings present on Feb. 10, 2026.  He was born to Jack and Lu Boyer in Anaconda on April 15, 1948. He made lifelong friends at Beaver Dam, Bryan, Lincoln, Junior, and Senior High School.

He only ventured out of Anaconda to obtain his teaching degree. Dennis had a brief stint teaching at the Job Corps before landing his dream teaching job at his Alma Mater, Anaconda High School.

His love for sports guided him to coaching basketball and volleyball. After talking to some of his players, it became apparent that Dennis passed life lessons to them along with basketball and volleyball skills. Dennis was proud of playing softball and winning the state championship. He enjoyed fishing and was always ready to catch the big one with his buddies. Golfing with friends and family gave him great joy.  And of course, go “Bama”.

Dennis had a deep love for his children. His friendship with Marlene Olsen was important in his later years. A special thanks to Pintler Hospice.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Lu Boyer. His granddaughter Sarah Jo Watson. He also lost his brother Clark Boyer, nephew Wayne Jacob Boyer and several dear aunts, uncles and cousins.

Dennis is survived by his children and their families: Stephenie and Mike Dunwell (Shelby); Tara and Danny Wayland (Dylan, Dawson, Ryan, Avery); Heidi Watson (River and Izzy); Holly and Curtis Ball (Aly and Dale); Billy and Gerri Butler (Madison and Noah).

Cremation has taken place.  His family will receive friends Friday, February 20th at 9:30 in St. Peter Catholic Church where funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30.  Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park and a reception will follow interment at Holy Family Catholic Church.  In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to Pintler Hospice and Anaconda Booster Club.
