On the evening of May 23rd 2025 Derald L. Dorlarque passed away peacefully in the Eastern Montana Veterans Home in Glendive, MT.
Derald was born in 1942 in Auburn, WA, to his father Delmar and mother Lillian. Derald grew up in Coulee City, WA, and eventually he and his sister Sally relocated to Anaconda, MT, to live under the guardianship of Frank Dorlarque, their uncle. Derald graduated from Anaconda High School in 1961. After graduation Derald went on to join the Marine Corps.
He proudly served his country from 1964-1967.
After his time in the service Derald moved to Las Vegas and joined the ranks of professional bartenders, which he did until 1987. Derald made his way back to Montana, which he always referred to as his home state. Once he moved back to Montana he started a house painting business in Bozeman, MT, which is still active under his son.
When Derald wasn’t working you could generally find him somewhere with a fishing pole in hand and a cold beer by his side, he truly enjoyed being in nature. Around 2010 Derald moved to Manhattan, MT, and lived there for 15 years. In Manhattan he enjoyed spending time with his neighbors and friends. Derald loved his friends and family and enjoyed socializing with people on a regular basis. He lived a very simple but fulfilling life, he kept an immaculate living area and enjoyed listening to his favorite music.
Derald is survived by his son Darren, his sister Sally, his nephew Derek and wife Michelle, life partner Beverly Jones, and many cousins.
Burial with military honors will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, June 16, 2025 at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery in Fort Harrison, MT. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with local arrangements.
