A different take on urban wildlife
In what might be a first since the days of the Ringling Brothers Circus' visits to the Smelter City over a century ago, a pair of zebras are seen in their temporary holding pen on the lawn of the Revive Center across from Lincoln Primary School as students gather to see them and the other animals on Friday, March 22. It's all part of a free petting zoo coming to 18 S. Hauser St. in Opportunity, whose operator, Kristine Keltgen, brought the animals to town for a visit. Dubbed the "Fair Weather Petting Zoo," Keltgen said it will be open if the weather is above 50 degrees and the Sun is out, and will include activities for kids and adults who love animals – including horse and animal therapy and "inky-dinky dony rides."
