A detached garage on West 3rd Street in Anaconda was destroyed by fire early Sunday morning.
The Anaconda Fire Department was dispatched to 512 W. 3rd St. at 1:46 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 25 for a fully involved garage fire, said Anaconda Fire Chief Erick Brittain.
"The guys were there really quick again. They got a great knockdown on it," Brittain said. "They were able to contain it to the detached garage. Exposures were quite close to the garage – within inches of the fire – so they were saved by the crews on scene. It was a good turnout by our volunteers – I believe West Valley and Opportunity went there. ... Crews were roughly on scene for two hours."
There had been a report with the initial emergency dispatch that there was a person trapped inside the garage, but that turned out not to be the case, Brittain said. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but Brittain said that anecodotally it appeared to have been electrical.
While the garage is a total loss, there were no injuries, Brittain said.
