Gloria June Ohman

On the afternoon of May 18, 2024, Gloria June Ohman passed away in Butte, MT at the age of 82. She was the third child and only daughter of Martin and Ruth Nelson.

Gloria was born in Anaconda on June 12, 1941. She grew up and completed her high school years in Anaconda, where she was active with horses and the Anaconda Saddle club. She frequented the Frog Pond cabin as a family favorite camping, hunting, fishing, and horse-riding spot. After high school, she married,  graduated Dillon Jr College with her teaching credential, and had her two children, Jerome Michael Ohman and Deborah Denise Ohman. Shortly after Deborah’s birth, the family moved to Turlock, CA where Gloria graduated from beauty college and worked as a hairdresser. 

After becoming a single mother, Gloria accepted a position at Lemoore Naval Air Station, launching her career as a Civil Service Employee, suppling Navy fighter planes with the required repair and maintenance materials. Gloria raised her two children and enjoyed her years in Lemoore, working various positions in supply chain and retired as a supervisor with over 25 years of service. 

Gloria stayed in the Lemoore/Fresno area after retirement to enjoy her children and grandchildren, but she always wanted to return to her beloved Montana. She moved back to Anaconda in 2011 and lived there happily with her pets and friends. She loved Montana and all that it has to offer and thoroughly enjoyed annual visits from her brother, Robert Nelson. A deck of cards was never far from Gloria and you could often find her at Art in the Park, sharing music and good laughs with friends and family.

A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2024, in the chapel of Longfellow Finnegan Riddle Funeral Home, 107 Oak Street, Anaconda, MT 59711. A Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Anaconda.
