Joseph Harold Weist

Joseph Harold Weist, 76, of Anaconda passed away on Aug. 29, 2023 at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings. Joseph was born in Deer Lodge, MT to Harold Weist and Alta Ostenson Weist on May 27, 1947. On June 21, 1980, Joseph married the love of his life, Lila Jane Hyndman. The two settled in Anaconda and raised three children. Joseph and Lila were happily married for 36 years until her death on July 5, 2016.
Joseph worked on the smelter until its closure. He finished his career at Affco, retiring after 25 years. Joe enjoyed spending time in the outdoors with his family. He especially enjoyed hunting season where he spent time with family at hunting camp. Joe was always up for adventure no matter what it was.
Joe is survived by his two sons, Randy and James (Katie) Weist and daughter Nina (Patrick) Trainor; grandchildren Brennan and Lucy Weist, Daniel, Blaine and Natalynn Trainor; brothers Mickey Weist and Bill (Lisa) Weist; sisters-in-law Juanita Weist, Pam (Larry) Bragg, Mary Halverson, Mona Stokes; brothers-in-law Joe (Eileen) Hyndman, Thomas (Connie) Hyndman, Robert (Gayle) Hyndman, and Don Hyndman; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by his parents and loving wife Jane Weist and granddaughter Kayley Trainor; brother Daniel Weist; sisters Charlie Weist and Sally Ann Weist; sister and brothers-in-law Jerry and Jimmy McElroy, Eddie Jo and Ray Peterson; and brothers-in-law John Dave and Bruce Hyndman and brother-in-law Joe Halverson.
Services will be held at Grace Baptist Church, 501 Cedar St., Anaconda, MT on Sept. 9, 2023 at 11 a.m.
