A long way from New Orleans

Pelicans may be better known in the sports world for basketball in the Big Easy – or really anyplace along the southern coastlines – but the majestic birds actually do come up to Middle America for breeding, as this white pelican photographed in mid-flight on Tuesday at Warm Springs Ponds must have done.
