Mary Joan (Austin) Lindgren
Mary Joan (Austin) Lindgren May 21, 1958 - October 22, 2023 Sacramento, CA. Mary was born in Anaconda, Montana to Pat Austin and Dorothy Kanthack Austin. She died on October 23, 2023 in Sacramento, California.
Mary grew up in Anaconda and attended local schools graduating from Anaconda High School in 1976. She met David Lindgren and they were married at St.Paul’s Church in 1978. They moved to Sacramento where their two children, Britany Hoey and David Lindgren were born.
Mary worked for the State of California Board of Equalization for 28 years. She retired in November 2013. Many of her coworkers were her lifelong friends.
She was a devoted Mimi to four beautiful grandchildren, Lorelai, Liam and Lucas Hoey, and Alaska Lindgren. She loved her grandchildren and her greatest joy was taking them to Disneyland and family trips to Anaconda.
Mary was very outgoing and friendly to everyone she met. She volunteered at various functions and especially loved working at the Sacramento Jazz Festival. She was an avid sports fan, especially loved the Miami Dolphins and enjoyed attending the Sacramento Kings Basketball games, but watching her grandchildren play sports was her favorite.
She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her daughter Britany Hoey (Peter) and son David Lindgren (Kerry), her four grandchildren, her brothers, Michael (Bobbie), Dan, Mark (Laura) and Ed as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Also her former family members who remained close to her David Lindgren, Linne Stout, Kathy Coffelt and Norma Lindgren Miller.
A Mass of Christian burial was held in Sacramento. A celebration of life will be held in Anaconda in the summer.
