Nancy Ruth McCollom

On Monday, September 23rd, 2024, three days after her 81st birthday, our beloved sister and aunt Nancy Ruth McCollom went to be with the Lord surrounded by her loving family.
Nancy was born September 20th, 1943, in Anaconda, MT, to Jim and June McCollom, joining her brother Jack. Fourteen years later, she welcomed her sister Vicki, to whom she was like a second mother.
Nancy lived her entire life in Anaconda and worked at Warm Springs State Hospital for over 50 years. The state of Montana and Governor Steve Bullock honored those many years of service by opening The McCollom House on March 25, 2014. The house would serve those who were preparing to assimilate back into society.
Some of Nancy’s great loves included cooking and baking. Many of Nancy’s friends and neighbors were the lucky recipients of her labor in the kitchen.
Nancy loved her nieces and nephews as if they were her own children. She traveled many miles to watch them play basketball and often housed their teams, which played in Anaconda.
Anyone who knew Nancy knew they had a loving, dedicated friend for life. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for them.
Nancy is survived by her brother Jack (Karin) McCollom, niece Shannon (Todd Bailey), sister Vicki McLeod (Mike), nephews Matthew and Mark McLeod (Karen), niece Mikaela (Tyler) Ramos, and great-nephew Beckham Ramos.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Nick Laslovich and Ron Walker, who helped Nancy with shoveling, mowing, and other chores when Nancy was unable to do so herself. They would also like to thank her good friend, Denise Anderson, for caring for Nancy as though she were her own family.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30am on Friday, October 4, 2024, at Holy Family Church, 217 W Pennsylvania St., Anaconda. A Visitation will begin at 9:30 am before Mass begins. There will be a luncheon in the Hunthausen Center of Holy Family Catholic Church to follow.
