Noreen (Pat) O’Leary McCumber, age 86, of Greenville, Delaware, formerly of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, and Anaconda, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2025. Pat is survived by her loving husband, Harvey T. McCumber.
Pat was born to Michael F. and Lucille Johnson O’Leary in 1938. She spent most of her early life in Anaconda, graduating from Anaconda Senior High School in 1956,where she enjoyed many activities, to include being a cheerleader. After high school, Pat attended MSU in Billings, graduating in 1958.
Pat later became a grade school teacher. Her kindness and compassion touched many children’s lives in Anaconda, Billings, and Bozeman. When Pat moved to Delaware, she became the Director of Preschool at the Newark, Delaware YMCA.
Pat was passionate about taking care of others and volunteered with many organizations, including Meals on Wheels in Pennsylvania. She was the hospitality co-chair for the LPGA McDonald’s Tournament for nearly 17 years, beginning in 1987, and served as the hospitality chair at Stonegate’s Retirement Center.
Pat and Harvey enjoyed 66 years of marriage, traveling and sharing wonderful trips with friends, and valuable time spent with her children and grandchildren.
Noreen’s father, Michael O’Leary) was an All-State athlete for Butte Central and a prominant coach for the Copperheads. Beginning in 1971, he served as superintendent of the Anaconda school district.
In addition to her husband Harvey, Pat is survived by her daughter Janet Cammarata (Michael) of Kennett Square, PA; son Mark McCumber (Penny) of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren Laura and Jack Cammarata and Cade McCumber; brother Michael O’Leary of Missoula, MT; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family welcomes friends to join them for a prayerful gathering as Pat’s ashes will be placed at Mount Olivet Cemetery on Friday, September 5, at 11:00 AM. Lunch will follow at Jack’s Grille (Old Works Golf Course) at 12 noon.
