Patricia Marie Casey
Patricia Marie Casey, known affectionately as “Trisha” and “Pat,” passed away on December 4, 2023, after a short illness at the age of 72. She lived in Yakima, WA. She was born in Anaconda, MT on January 9, 1951 to Woodrow and Mary (Hurley) Casey and she joined three siblings: Woody, Mary Ellen and Jack.
Trisha attended St. Peter’s grade school and church. She graduated from Anaconda Central High School in 1969. In 1965, proceeding the death of her parents, our loving relatives Elizabeth (Biz) and James Dougherty welcomed Trisha into their home. They lovingly took her in and supported her throughout her high school years. She then went on to earn her BA in Education at Carroll College and taught school in Browning, Butte and Dillon, MT.
Before attending graduate school, she worked for the Anaconda Copper Mining Co. until they closed their operations. She then furthered her education at The University of Montana, earning an MA in Guidance Counseling. Trisha moved to Yakima, WA and worked as a school counselor.
She was a proud Irish Catholic whose faith and heritage deeply influenced her life. She generously supported the Catholic community with her plentiful donations.
Trisha always looked forward to the exciting trips with her “Honey Badger” group of friends from Anaconda and Dillon. They often vacationed together and enjoyed the comradery and celebrated their meaningful friendships. She also looked forward to her visits with Jim and Joanne Cortese, long time Ellensburg friends for over 60 years. She had an outstanding personality coupled with quick Irish wit that was second to none. She enjoyed being around people and carrying on conversation anll while keeping a perpetual smile on everyone’s face. Her happiness was seen in her bright Irish eyes. Family and friends were always close to her heart.
She found great friendships when she would play Texas Hold’em. She studied the game and became a very accomplished player. Trish was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Woodrow Casey, Elizabeth and Jim Dougherty, and Hurley/Casey grandparents, as well as several close cousins.
She is survived by her brother Jack Casey of Helena, MT and her sister Mary Ellen Hull of Reno, NV.
She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews: Heather Moyle (Sean), TJ Hull (Michelle), Mollie Hull, Casey Hull (Suzi), Stacey Darragh (Chris), Shawna Shad (Paul), Kevin Casey (Jenny), Kelly Casey, Rob Casey and Megan Casey.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Valley Church in Helena, MT on September 26, 2024 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
