Richard Arlen Calhoun

Richard Arlen Calhoun, age 68, of Roseburg, Oregon passed away on September 11, 2023. He was born on August 3, 1955 in Anaconda Montana to George and Fran Calhoun.
Richard graduated from Anaconda High School in 1973 and then enlisted in the United States Navy. He proudly served for 22 years, retiring as Senior Chief Petty Officer. Richard was a communications control manager and supervisor and served on the USS Enterprise, the Cleveland and Carl Vinson. While serving in the Phillipines, he aided in the evacuation and placement of Vietnamese refugees after the fall of Saigon.
Richard’s children and grandchildren were the light of his life. He adored them and spent as much time with them as possible. Together, they enjoyed the great outdoors - fishing, camping and hunting. He also loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. In his spare time, Richard loved searching for, finding and displaying Native American artifacts including an impressive collection of arrowheads.
Richard is survived by his children, Richelle, Jonathan and Eric; grandchildren Jacob, Jordan, Angel, Cheyanne, Shaila, Maddux and Tractor. He is also survived by his mother, Fran Calhoun, siblings, Bill (Linda) Calhoun, Mark (Bonnie) Calhoun and Marilyn (Steve) Hendrickson.
He was preceded in death by his father George Calhoun and his sister Joanne Wells.
Richard was laid to rest with full Military Honors on September 28, 2023 at Roseburg National Cemetery in Roseburg Oregon.
