Robert B. “Bobby” Barclay

January 19, 1940 – October 13, 2025

Robert B. “Bobby” Barclay, 85, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2025, at the Crest Nursing Home in Butte, Montana, of natural causes.

Bobby was born in Jamestown, North Dakota, on January 19, 1940, to Kreston and June (Burner) Barclay. He moved to Anaconda as a small child with his parents and siblings, becoming one of nine children in a close-knit family.

He graduated from Anaconda High School in 1958 and began his career driving a taxi in Anaconda. Bobby later went to work for the Montana State Liquor Store, eventually becoming the manager and, later, the owner when the store became privately owned.

Bobby had a lifelong love of sports—especially his hometown Anaconda Copperheads, the New England Patriots, and the Boston Red Sox. He also enjoyed playing cribbage and poker with friends and was known to have fun trying his luck on the machines at local casinos.

He was a proud member of Hope Lutheran Church and the Anaconda BPOE.

Bobby was a kind and gentle man with a wonderful sense of humor. He was loved by everyone who knew him and will be deeply missed.

Bobby is survived by his sister, Betty Barclay Williams of Anaconda; brothers, Richard Barclay of Blue Springs, Missouri, and Greg (Marilyn) Barclay of Anaconda; sister-in-law, Linda Barclay of Anaconda; and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly, along with many close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John (Dorthy), Tom (Delores), and Dennis Barclay; sisters, Lenore (Dale) Tuttle and Delores (Gil) Reich; brother-in-law, Pete Reisenauer; sister-in-law, Sue Barclay; and nephews, Punky Reich, Brad Barclay, and Fred Martz.

The family extends special thanks to New Horizons of Anaconda, The Crest Nursing Home of Butte, and Stillwater Hospice for their loving care over the past several years.

Services will be held in the spring. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

You will be so missed, Bobby — we love you.
