Wanda Delores (Rice) Rogers, 80 September 1, 1943 – December 10, 2023

Wanda passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023, in Boise, Idaho, at the age of 80.

Wanda was born in Anaconda on September 1, 1943, the middle child of nine, to Clint and Lillian Rice of Opportunity. She lived with her family in Opportunity and attended local schools until her marriage to Anthony “Tony” Rogers of Deer Lodge in 1960. She and Tony had three children (Terri Lynn, Tova Jean, and Tracy Lee), but divorced after 16 years.

Wanda lived in Clarkston, Washington, and worked in Lewiston, Idaho, as a bartender. She had a friendly, fun-loving personality and made many friends there. After being successfully treated for cancer, but which left her with residual complications, she moved back to Anaconda to be closer to her family. In Anaconda she enjoyed monthly lunches with her high school classmates and frequent get-togethers with family. After retirement she moved with her daughter to Meridian, Idaho.

Wanda was a great cook and enjoyed trying new recipes to share with her family and friends. She loved to shop and always dressed to the nines. She was a hard-to-beat pinochle and cribbage player. She was a diehard Seahawks fan, and watched their game against SanFrancisco from her hospital bed in the afternoon prior to her death. She was strong and independent, and lived life on her terms.

Wanda is survived by two daughters Terri Haeckl of Meridan, Idaho, and Tova Thompson of Greenbrier, Arkansas. Six grandchildren Amy (Geoffrey) Steck, Amanda, Clinton and Charlotte Haeckl; Sarah and Derek Thompson; and six great grandchildren. Brothers Butch and Corky Rice. Sisters Wilma Burkey,  Lillian (Ron) Haffey, June (Merle) Craner, and Phylis Rice. Sisters-in-law Litzi and Carol Rice; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is now reunited with her infant daughter Tracy; parents Clint and Lillian Rice; brothers Lyle and Tom Rice; brother-in-law Gene Burkey and sisters-in-law Dorothy and Noreen Rice.

A graveside service and interment of ashes will take place in Anaconda in the spring. She will be forever remembered and missed by her loving family.
