Published by admin on Wed, 11/15/2023 - 12:40

Marianne T. Malen (nee Mesenko), 87, born June 27, 1936 in Anaconda MT, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2023. She is survived by sons, Peter Jr. (Annette) and Paul (Christy); daughter, Karen Malen-Hogle (Paul); grandchildren, Caleb, Carson, Preston and Anneliese; sister, Virginia Carosone; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter F. Malen Sr., and parents, Fred J. Mesenko, and Clara A. Mesenko.

Marianne attended Central High School in Anaconda, MT, and graduated from Gonzaga University with a BS in Chemistry. After graduation, Marianne worked at the Rocky Mountain Laboratories in Hamilton, MT. She married Peter F. Malen Sr. in 1962 and his career took them to Great Falls, MT, Spokane WA, and ultimately to Portland, OR. In Portland, Marianne worked as a chemist for Merix Corporation, a printed circuit board manufacturer, for many years before retiring.

Marianne enjoyed spending time with her many friends, and phone calls and visits with her family who were scattered around the Pacific Northwest and Mountain states. For many years, Marianne met with a group of old friends in Las Vegas to watch the Gonzaga Bulldogs basketball team compete in the annual WCC conference tournament. She also was a devoted fan of the Seattle Mariners. Marianne liked to travel and visited Europe many times. Marianne loved spending time working in her yard, achieving Master Gardener status, and visiting the local farmers markets.

Above all, Marianne was a devout Catholic whose faith was reflected in everything she did, including her generous donation of her time and resources to the local food bank and various other charities. She will be greatly missed.

Services was held Monday, November 13, 2023 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 5105 SW Franklin Ave, Beaverton, OR 97005-2896. Arrangements by Springer and Son Aloha Funeral.
