Donald “Donnie Vu” Vucasovich

Published by admin on Fri, 11/01/2024 - 10:22

On October 23rd, 2024, Donald “Donnie Vu” Vucasovich left this life to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Donnie was born on October 26th, 1942, at St. Ann’s Hospital in Anaconda, MT. He was the second child to Voin and Danica Vucasovich.

Donnie, who had been blind since birth, did not let that stop him. Although there were no schools at that time to accommodate him, Donnie was homeschooled until 14 and then went to the School of the Deaf and Blind in Great Falls. He graduated from there and then went to Minneapolis and lived at a facility that taught people with disabilities how to live and function on their own, and he did just that.

Donnie went on to be a DJ in Deer Lodge and a DJ in Anaconda at KANA. He was a wonderful organ and piano player and he played all over Anaconda. He was a Ham operator for many years. Donnie was involved with the Kiwanis, Toast Masters, Elks, The Blind Federation, and more. In his lifetime Donnie was a photographer, a singer, rode bicycles, bowled at Cedar Lanes, and even drove a car! He lived his best life.

A special thank you to Paul Dennis and Roberta Campbell for taking such good care of Donnie just as he was.

Bye for now.

Donnie is survived by his sister, Georgiana Gavrilovich (Bogdan), of Edmonds, WA; daughter, Lori Johnson, and grandchildren, Tim Johnson and Courtney Johnson, all of Butte, MT; and many cousins.

Funeral Service for Donnie was held at 11:30 am at Longfellow Finnegan Riddle Funeral Home, 107 Oak St., Anaconda, MT 59711. Visitation will begin at 11am at the funeral home. Donnie was laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, 5001 Crackerville Rd., Gregson, MT.

The funeral home did not publish the obituary in time for the services. Therefore if you did not know about the service dates and times, it will be recorded. If you would like a copy of it contact: Longfellow Finnegan Riddle Funeral Home 406-563-3371.
