Individual named in shooting incident near Stumptown Rd.
Anaconda-Deer Lodge County Law Enforcement has released the name of the individual stated to have been involved in the shooting incident that occurred near Stumptown Road on Thursday, Dec. 19.
Steve McCulloch was transported to a hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah where he is being treated for a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to ADLC Police Chief Bill Sather, who added that charges have not yet been filed at this time.
According to a media release provided to the Anaconda Leader on Friday morning, ADLC Law Enforcement and Montana Highway Patrol respondent to a call for service near Stumptown Road on Thursday night, but when they responded to the residence and attempted to speak with an individual inside, several gunshots were heard from within the residence and officers on scene called for additional units to respond.
"Officers noted gunfire in their direction and a Montana Highway Patrol vehicle was damaged," the media release reads. "After approximately two hours of negotiations the individual emerged from the residence, was taken into custody, and was treated for injuries."
The incident is being investigated by the Montana Department of Justice.
