Lafell Duran Loveland, “Duran”, 73, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in Washington, Utah on Sunday, October 27, 2024.  He was born Lafell Duran Reber on May 2, 1951, in Henderson, Nevada to Lafell Reber and Norma Adams, and has an older brother, Gordon, and an older sister, Patricia.  Throughout his life, he was known for his sense of humor and his teasing nature.

His mother and father divorced in 1961, and his mother married Russell Loveland in August 1962.  Russell adopted Lafell Duran, and taught him many things about hunting, fishing, and horseback riding – things he loved and became his favorite pastimes in adulthood.  Through adoption, Lafell gained additional sisters and brothers, Diane, Riss, Scott, and Janet.

Lafell married Vickie Wilkinson in 1969 and to them was born a daughter, Kori.  Lafell was trained by Vickie’s father in all aspects of home construction, which became his profession.  They divorced in 1970.  Lafell then married Rita Helen Caldwell on September 26, 1972, at the LDS Temple in St. George, Utah.  They had two sons, Lafell Thomas and Joseph Duran, and spent 24 years in Montana, but ultimately divorced in 2003.

Lafell married Pam Clementson on January 1, 2017, in Las Vegas, Nevada, and gained a stepdaughter, Caitlin.  Pam loves to dance but was not able to get Lafell to warm to it.  She did get him to warm to traveling, however, and they enjoyed many trips around the country together.

Duran was truly loved by all and had a charm and wit about him that was magic.  People were always drawn to him, and he always made a wonderfully lasting impression.  He is irreplaceable and has left a huge hole in his passing that can never be filled.  A final message from his wife, Pam, “God love and bless you my husband D”.
