Marilyn Luella Opp, 79

Marilyn Luella Opp, age 79 – affectionately known by many as March, Marchie, or Marcy – entered the arms of her Savior on September 9, 2024, at her home in Sparks, Nevada, with her son Jason and daughter-in-law Tracy by her side.

Marilyn was born on August 10, 1945, in Lincoln Valley, North Dakota, to Albert and Luella Opp (née Lautt). She grew up on a farm with her four siblings – Shirley, Stanley, Sharon, and Gene. The family relocated to Anaconda, Montana, where Albert worked at the Anaconda Copper Smelter.

A proud Anaconda Copperhead, Marilyn graduated from Anaconda High School in 1963 and earned her business diploma at Butte Business College in 1964. She began her professional career as a secretary at Anaconda Copper Company before marrying in 1965 and moving to Medford, Oregon, where she was more widely known as Marcy Adams. There, she worked at Harry & David’s.

Marilyn was particularly noted for her strong work ethic and exceptional multitasking skills, advancing through many office management roles over the years – working for lawyers, engineers, and law enforcement – eventually retiring after more than 25 years of service with Washoe County government in Reno, Nevada.

Marilyn loved big-sky views, Pacific Coast beaches, and working outdoors. She enjoyed the freedom of riding motorcycles with her sons; staying on top of current events and discussions; watching classic films, football games, and boxing matches; and reading books – especially celebrity bios and true crime stories.

Marilyn is remembered most for her sweet gentle spirit, her loyal friendship, and the love she carried for her family, many of whom still reside in the Anaconda area.

She is survived by her sons, Scott Adams of Medford, Oregon, and Jason Adams of Sparks, Nevada; her siblings, Shirley Coward (née Opp) of Opportunity, Montana; Stanley Opp and Gene Opp of Anaconda, Montana; and Sharon Hennick (née Opp) of Bandon, Oregon. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews, several great-grandchildren, and her three treasured grandchildren: Marcus, Adrian, and Taylor. Marilyn is now reunited in Heaven with her parents, Albert and Luella Opp.

An all-day celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held on Saturday, August 2, at the Opportunity Community Club. All who knew and loved Marilyn are warmly welcome to attend and share memories.
